A NEW APPROACH TO THE PERIODIZATION OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

  The article examines the essence, significance, methods of periodization of the history of economic development and analyzes various theoretical approaches to its implementation. The division of the history of economic development into fixed periods, such as the chronological periodization of world history, is considered one of the ten most important and pressing problems of economic theory. The purpose of periodization of economic development is to understand and evaluate the fundamental nature of important economic processes and events that took place in the history of human society, to understand its causes and consequences, to draw appropriate scientific conclusions, and most importantly, to predict on their basis what may happen in the future, i.e. develop scientifically based forecasts of the economic development of society.
